Okay. I've always thought of peace-time, post-Nugganatic Borogravia to be something like post-Cromwellian England and, as such, PrinceMarmadukePiotreAlbertHansJosephBerhardtWilhemsberg would be like Restoration London -- Or Romantic Era Paris, perhaps.
Although possibly with less obvious sex (although, granted, not *that* much less obvious, given the way I write things).
But the bit about there being a bunch of philosophers and writers and generally-useless-creative-types running around the place fits well enough. As does the sudden availability of coffee and (only just recently) chocolate (and, yes, garlic, although that doesn't show up nearly as often in a coffee house).
Anyway.
Polly and Mal opened a cafe in their house after retiring from army life (as seen in 'Nocturne', among other stories). This is the beginning of those plans. :-)
It's fluffy. Enjoy it. :-)
